Why I started this store

I got sick of generic outdoor gear sites that sell everything to everyone. You know the type — pages of products that look identical, descriptions written by someone who’s never set foot on a trail, zero personality.

So I built the opposite.

Every product on Pakiki Products has been tested by me on real New Zealand trails. If it’s here, it’s because it’s worked — in the mud, in the rain, on multi-day tramps where your gear actually matters. I’m not selling you a catalogue. I’m sharing what I’d pack.

And here’s the other reason this store exists: Fortress 40. It’s a student-led initiative started at Tauranga Boys’ College that uses extreme physical challenges to get young Kiwi men talking about mental health. My son Jake started this in 2023 along with other school student leaders and I’m super proud of what he help create so I want to support it. 100% of every sale profit goes directly to them. Not as a marketing tactic — as the whole point.
